About the Speaker
Elizabeth Manton, an undergraduate student at Adelphi University will discuss her involvement in university initiatives, leadership, academic research, and advocacy work, and her belief that advocacy can take many forms, including art, history, criminal justice, education, and action. As an aspiring educator, she hopes to empower students to find their voices, engage in civic responsibility, and recognize the role they can play in creating positive change within their communities.
Elizabeth Manton is an undergraduate student at Adelphi University pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in History through the Honors College, with a minor in Criminal Justice, and an accelerated Master of Arts in Adolescent Education through the STEP Program. Passionate about history, criminal justice, law, advocacy, and social justice, Elizabeth is committed to exploring how education, creative expression, and community engagement can promote awareness and meaningful change.
Elizabeth serves as Vice President of Adelphi University’s Criminal Justice Club and Director of Public Relations for the Adelphi Undergraduate Law Review. She also works as the Student Assistant/Social Media Coordinator for the Adelphi University History Department.
Through her campus involvement, she has participated in advocacy initiatives including Take Back the Night as a committee member, speaker, and chant leader; the Clothesline Project, a Criminal Justice Club initiative that uses creative expression to raise awareness about sexual, domestic, and gendered violence; and helping to bring back Chalk Up under this year’s theme, Justice for All, where student organizations, first-year seminar classes, and individual students who were just walking by used chalk art to explore themes of equality, fairness, rights, community, and social change.
