Please join us for a special virtual guest lecture and conversation with LGS Research Fellow, Dane Peters!

On January 6, 2021, the world watched as the United States of America’s foundation of democracy and civility was tarnished. Thousands marched, demonstrated, and eventually found their way into Capitol Hill resulting in the death of five people. What was the intent? To prevent the certification of the 2020 presidential election. The rationale? The belief that the was country changing and would no longer be a White Christian nation, and thus being called upon to have their own Harper’s Ferry
Rebellion. This conversation centers around the kindling of white rage by our school system’s miseducation.

Dane Peters has been named the 2021 LGS Research Fellow. With the LGS Program, he is conducting research and is available to mentor, advise, guide, and support students on special projects. He also teaches in the Africana Studies Department at Brooklyn College and is an expert in racial justice; diaspora studies; African, Caribbean, and African American history and politics; activism; and youth development.
