Share your creative writing work with your peers as part of this year’s Fall Arts Festival!

The English Department, alongside Adelphi alumna, writer, and editor Gabrielle Deonath, is hosting a creative writing open mic for students to share their works related to the themes of resilience, reflection, and rebuilding connection.

Gabrielle is one of the editors of the 2021 anthology, untold: defining moments of the uprooted. Inspired by her editing experience, Gabrielle said, “I now strongly believe that the way that we get to a place of mutual healing is by sharing our stories and listening to each other. It’s how you build a sense of community. I learned this through editing untold, and I thought it was a powerful idea to continue through an open mic aiming to bring together students from Adelphi’s creative fields.”

Poems, songs, essays, short stories, flash fiction, excerpts from longer works , and other short form pieces are welcome. If you’d like to sign up ahead of time, please fill out this form. You can also use the form to book a working session with Gabrielle for feedback on your work before the event.
