In honor of National Native American Heritage Month, Anthropology Department, Anthropology Club, Adelphi University Libraries, and Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and Indigenous Peoples Awareness Coalition are sponsoring a screening of the film 1200+, which centers the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women epidemic in North America, followed by a talk with co-creator Sheila North Wilson and Shinnecock Nation member Janine Tinsley-Roe. This event is free and open to the public.

New York City is home to the largest number of Native Americans and Alaska Native people of any location within the United States. This event will promote discussion and greater awareness of the Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women epidemic and contextualize the experiences of indigenous peoples and settler communities throughout North America. 

Q&A discussion of the film will begin at 5:00pm with co-creator Sheila North Wilson and Shinnecock Nation member Janine Tinsley-Roe.
