For majors and non-majors

Students will be introduced to the principles of community and public health promotion. The course centers on five major topics: the foundations of community health and community health promotion, demography and epidemiology, community health services and resources, planning community health improvement and interventions, and environmental health protection.

At the end of this course, students will be able to:- Describe the notion of community- Analyze and interpret quantitative, qualitative and spatial data - Articulate processes for determining community priorities- Identify and differentiate individual, organizational and community assets - Perform strategies necessary to conduct a focus group in a community health assessment- Construct a community assessment survey tool- Present a photovoice of community health- Develop a comprehensive community assessment report
