Adelphi University is participating in Mission 22 of the Student Spaceflight Experiments Program (SSEP), and one Adelphi student team’s experiment is confirmed to fly aboard the International Space Station.

What is SSEP?
The Student Spaceflight Experiments Program (SSEP) gives undergraduate students the chance to design real microgravity experiments that launch to the International Space Station. Your team’s proposal goes through the same peer-review process used by professional researchers—and the winning experiment flies!

How It Works
- Form a team (minimum 2 students—larger groups welcome)
- Work with a faculty advisor and a research advisor
- Design an original experiment and write a formal proposal
- Proposal Window: September 1 – November 3, 2026
- Proposal Deadline: November 3, 2026
- Launch to the ISS: Late Spring 2027 (return to Earth ~6 weeks later)
Who Can Apply?
Open to all Adelphi undergraduate students in any class year.
Students with physics, biology, chemistry or environmental science majors are especially encouraged to apply.
Why Participate?
- Fly real hardware: Your experiment launches to the ISS in an actual microgravity lab (no simulation!)
- Own the research: You ask the question, write the proposal, and defend it like a real scientist
