Adelphi University’s 125th Anniversary Oral History Project

Adelphi University’s 125th Anniversary Oral History Project

In honor of Adelphi’s 125th-anniversary celebration, we partnered with Publishing Concepts, Inc., (PCI) for a comprehensive Oral History Project, where this trusted vendor contacted our alumni to learn about their transformative experiences at Adelphi.

Thank you to the 6,376 Panthers who shared their stories as part of Adelphi’s 125th Anniversary Oral History Project!

The marketing and outreach portion of this project has concluded and the project has now entered the production phase. Panthers who purchased commemorative books (print or digital) and/or swag can expect to receive it this coming fall.

If you have any other questions regarding the project, please reach out to PCI customer service desk at 1.800.982.1590 or email alumni@adelphi.edu.

With our limited resources, Adelphi would never be able to tackle a project like this. By partnering with PCI, we’re able to access their trained staff of real, live human beings who are excited to listen and learn about our Panthers.  (They are professional interviewers and writers!)

Please note, we have only shared your contact information with PCI in conjunction with this project. We have NOT sold your contact information or otherwise used it for outside marketing purposes.  PCI will not contact you again after the project has concluded.

Panthers who do not respond to PCI and Adelphi outreach, will not be included in this project.

The PCI team has collected Adelphi stories for several months. The project has now entered the post-production phase of editing the data and creating the print and digital books. We hope to have the finished project in Summer 2022—the conclusion of our 125th anniversary year.

Yes, in a few different ways:

  1. Legacy – Preserves the oral history of our school.
  2. Updated Information – Allows us to effectively communicate with and engage alumni.
  3. Revenue – Generates proceeds from sales of product packages and solicitation of 125th anniversary donations
  4. Pride – Wearing apparel shows support and love for our school.

Adelphi University has a contractual agreement with PCI that states:

  1. If you have received a postcard or an email with a telephone number, you may call the number to speak with a dedicated representative for the Oral History Project. The representative will verify all the information we have on file for you, make any updates where needed, then ask you to share your story about your time at Adelphi.  Your story will be recorded, and the sound clip provided to Adelphi at the conclusion of the project.

You can call back at any time to share your story or schedule a call back with a representative. Please tell the representative you plan to do so.

You will receive an email with a link to upload up to two photos plus captions.

If you have also purchased a book but do not have an email address on file, you will be sent a photo mailer to send physical photos in to be printed (note: photos will be returned if you include a self-addressed, stamped envelope).

You will receive an email prior to publication with a link to review your transcribed story and make any edits.

You may share as little or as much as you’d like. Some people only want to share a story, others only want to share a photo and caption.

The 125th anniversary Oral History Project print and digital pieces are available for sale only to Adelphi University alumni.

Call the PCI customer service help desk at 1.800.982.1590 and they will take care of this for you.
