This workshop will introduce you to child-centered play therapy. Child-centered play therapy is child-led and can be an incredibly powerful tool. We will dive into the theory of child-centered play therapy and the evidence behind this approach. We will learn how to use facilitative responses in sessions and the ways to practice presence with children. We will also learn ways to use child-centered play therapy with families to help strengthen connections and decrease adverse behaviors. You will walk away with tools and information you can put to use in your practice with children and families. This workshop will be highly interactive to make sure to practice the skills and leave feeling confident to use them!
Note: There will be a one hour lunch break.
Objectives
- Identify the key principles and philosophy behind child-centered play therapy.
- Identify 5 main facilitative responses used in child centered play therapy
- Compare the role of the therapist in non-directive play therapy and differentiate it from other therapeutic approaches.
- Demonstrate skills in creating a safe and supportive environment for child-led play through role play
- Explain the 3 steps used in therapeutic limit setting.
- Describe the use of themes in child centered play therapy

Faculty Bio
Jasmine Berger, LCSW-Registered Play Therapist
Jasmine Berger is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Registered Play Therapist. Jasmine worked in community mental health and as a school social worker, before starting Bud to Bloom Play Therapy. She specializes in working with children with trauma, attachment disruptions and big behaviors. She is a Foundational Theraplay Practitioner and enjoys helping families learn to connect.

Unfortunately, we cannot provide refunds for cancellations made seven working days or fewer before the event for any reason—or for no-shows. We can provide credit towards a future workshop up to 24 hours before the event. After that, no credit will be issued.
