The North East Watercolor Society proudly celebrates a half century of excellence with its 50th Annual National Juried Exhibition featuring the work of outstanding contemporary watercolor paintings by many of the nation’s most accomplished artists. Juried by internationally recognized watercolor artist Antonio Masi.
To kick off the fall semester, the Adelphi University Exhibitions Program is proud to host a major national exhibition, the North East Watercolor Society’s (NEWS) 50th Annual National Juried Exhibition. NEWS celebrates 50 years of artistic excellence with this landmark watercolor exhibit presented in the Adelphi University Performing Arts Center Galleries. This exhibit runs from Friday, September 18 through Sunday, October 25, 2026.
Recognized as one of the premier watercolor exhibitions in the Northeast, it will showcase outstanding contemporary watercolor paintings by over 65 watercolorists, many of which are the nation’s most accomplished artists.

The exhibition will award more than $8,000 in cash prizes and merchandise, recognizing excellence in watercolor painting.
Originally founded in 1973 as the Orange County Watercolor Society, the organization has grown into today’s nationally recognized North East Watercolor Society. The society is especially proud to bring this milestone exhibition to Long Island for the first time, expanding opportunities for artists and audiences to the region.
This year’s juror is internationally recognized watercolor artist Antonio Masi, (remove Past) President Emeritus of the American Watercolor Society, where he served as President for eight years. Widely respected for his mastery of transparent watercolor and his iconic paintings of New York City’s bridges and architecture, Masi brings decades of artistic achievement and leadership to this milestone exhibition.
In conjunction with the exhibition, Antonio Masi will present a three-day watercolor workshop from Monday, September 21 through Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Garden City, offering artists the opportunity to learn directly from one of today’s foremost watercolorists. For five decades, the North East Watercolor Society has provided artists with opportunities for national recognition, education, and fellowship while advancing appreciation for watercolor as a fine art. The Society remains dedicated to its mission of promoting and preserving the art of watercolor through nationally recognized exhibitions, educational workshops, demonstrations, and community outreach. Membership is open to artists of all skill levels and provides opportunities to exhibit in members-only exhibitions, participate in educational programming, and receive discounted entry fees for future exhibitions and workshops.
