Join Dean Dinan for this masterful performance of Sophocles’ Elektra in a new translation by celebrated poet Anne Carson.
The poet Anne Carson provides a new translation of Sophocles’ masterwork of family revenge. Elektra is a daughter of Agamemnon, who led the Greeks to Troy and caused Odyssey’s long journey home. As you know, Clytemnestra, Agamemnon’s wife murders him upon his return from Troy because he sacrificed their eldest daughter to the winds so the ships could sail to Troy. Elektra and her bother Orestes kill their mother Clytemnestra to avenge the death of their father.
