About the Workshop
The 21st century is being reshaped by longevity. By 2050, over 2 billion people will be aged 60+—a 42% increase—while birthrates have plummeted from 7 to 2.5 children per woman since 1972. Combined with declining health (e.g., earlier disease onset in the U.S.), these trends mean people will need to contribute to families, communities, and societies longer than ever. By 2050, those 50+ are predicted to be the largest segment of the U.S. workforce.
This workshop is a critical first step to understanding these shifts and applying them to our lives and work:
- For educators, it highlights the need for lifelong learning and adaptability.
- For health professionals, it underscores the urgency of promoting healthier lifestyles and preventive care to extend healthspan.
- For longevity advocates, it offers strategies for fostering intergenerational collaboration and creating systems that support meaningful contributions across all life stages.
