Adelphi University Robert B. Willumstad School of Business held its tenth Adelphi Apprentice Challenge. More than 240 students from 27 high schools worked in 24 mixed teams to assemble a successful strategic marketing plan in an hour for a subscription sample box company. The winning team was Universal Sweets.

Elana Zolfo has been appointed dean of the Larry I. Luing School of Business at Berkeley College. She was vice president for workforce development for the Aerospace and Defense Diversification Alliance in Peacetime Transition. Zolfo earned an M.B.A. from Adelphi University.

Adelphi alumna Angela Sammarco, a dedicated nurse, professor and author has passed away at the age of 61 in her home two years after surviving hurricane Sandy.

Grace Eun Hyung Kim came to the US as a refugee of the Korean War. Through the generosity of a local church group in New York City, she was awarded a full scholarship to Adelphi. She spent her early professional years at the Mt. Cavalry Child Care Center in New York’s Harlem, under the guidance of Shirley Chisholm, who would later become the first African American woman elected to Congress. Grace was the first educational director of the Newark, NJ Head Start program, where she would serve for 20+ years.
