An op-ed written by Dr. Sarah Eichberg, director of community research for Vital Signs in the Center for Health Innovation, appeared in the Long Island Press on Friday, November 1. Dr. Eichberg discusses the implications that the recent cuts to SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) have to Long Islanders that face food insecurity, such as illness, depression and difficulty concentrating.


Sophomore Taylor Groth of Adelphi’s women’s soccer team was named a Capital One Academic All-District. She is the first women’s soccer player to win this award since 2006. Groth is a psychology major and holds a 3.93 GPA. For more information on Groth, go to aupanthers.com.


Adelphi’s Alcohol Awareness Week which took place from October 21-27 was featured in an article in the Garden City Patch. The drunk driving simulator, sponsored by the Student Counseling Center, Public Safety and the Health and Wellness Peer Educators, demonstrated to students the sensory impairments of drinking. Public Safety Sergeant Gerry Lennon and Greta Tiberia, Adelphi’s drug and alcohol abuse counselor said the event would help students understand the dangers and consequences of drinking.
