Outdoor Sculpture Biennial, Jessica Dutton, Lee Xippolitos, Jean Lau Chin, Allan Ashley
Adelphi’s Outdoor Sculpture Biennial was highlighted in Newsday on Friday, March 15. Adelphi’s Director of Exhibitions Eliz Alahverdian explained how the outdoor art allows people to experience it at different times of the day and in different seasons.
Assistant Professor Jessica Dutton was mentioned in Mother Jones on Monday, February 25 for her research on the waters of Hempstead Bay post-Hurricane Sandy. Along with Bruce Brownawell of SUNY Stony Brook, Dr. Dutton looked for changes in the chemical makeup of the bay’s floor which could have been caused by shifting mud and sewage leaks.
Alumna Dr. Lee Xippolitos ’95 was honored for community service by Victims Information Bureau of Suffolk County (VIBS). Dr. Xippolitos, dean of the Stony Brook University School of Nursing, received the award for her efforts to establish the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) center at Stony Brook University Hospital.
Dr. Jean Lau Chin, professor in the Derner Institute, was quoted in an article about women in the workforce in Credit Union Times on Wednesday, March 20. According to Chin, the percentage of women CEOs in the United States has increased three-fold over the past 20 years.
On Wednesday, March 13, Dr. Allan Ashley, professor of operations, supply chain management and decision sciences, was mentioned in an article in Newsday about how to improve a company’s business. Dr. Ashley recommended the Toyota Way, an approach that groups employees into teams to provide input on lowering costs and improving quality.
