Spirit Weekend: Richard Outlaw ’82 Art Exhibition and Reception
Event Actions
We can’t wait to welcome you home for our Seventh Annual Spirit Weekend.
Richard Outlaw started painting after a traffic accident caused him to take time away from his NYC Corrections Officer position. He shares “I bought a few canvases and never looked back.” Upon his return to work, he was invited to teach art to the inmate population. And as they say, the rest is history!
Outlaw has dedicated himself to creating art for 20 years now. He has participated in a number of one-man and group exhibits throughout the metropolitan area as well as upstate NY. He also enjoys offering art therapy to the City of New York Homeless Shelter System.
In his paintings, he hopes to inspire and enlighten. Through colors, shapes, abstract patterns, and mixed mediums, he hopes to capture the struggle and achievements of the African Diaspora.
Join us at 2:00 p.m. for a reception in Blodgett Room 108 with featured artist, Richard Outlaw.
This event is part of our annual Adelphi University Spirit Weekend.
