9:30 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. Keynote Looking Back to Look Ahead: What Does the Past Tell Us About our Future?

Welcome our 2021 keynote speaker, Robin F. Goodman, Ph. D., A.T .R.-BC, for an exciting address discussing where we are and where we’re headed. COVID-19 has brought the issues of individual and collective trauma and grief into sharp focus. Children, families, medical and mental health providers have all been challenged by feelings of sadness, worry, and a loss of control. Lessons learned from past tragedies and crises will be discussed to inform our resilient path forward.
10:30 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. Session #1 Pandemic Recovery and Resilience for Schools

Led by Vera Feuer, MD, we will discuss how various stressors during the pandemic have impacted students, parents and school staff. We will review how to integrate trauma focused practices into our daily lives to help promote resilience and traumatic recovery.

11:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
Session #2 Belonging Through a Culture of Dignity

Join John Krownapple, former school administrator and author for this session. Too often, equity implementation reinforces a vicious cycle of failure, largely because the keys to success are missing. Learn how to make equity actionable through the concepts of dignity and belonging. Acquire a proven framework that has helped practitioners get their equity implementation right and create the conditions for every student to thrive.

Lunch and Learn From a Student Perspective: Staying Motivated During Trying Times

Moderated by: Erin Furey, LMSW, Student Counseling Center: Outreach, Training and Mental Health Promotion Coordinator.

Students from various grade levels, as well as a parent will discuss challenges and skill development during remote and blended learning environments. This will be an interactive opportunity to ask questions and share ideas.

2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Virtual Campus Tour Invite your friends, students, and colleagues for a virtual tour of Adelphi’s beautiful Garden City campus. Learn from current student ambassadors all that Adelphi has to offer.
