Personal Statement

My first love is teaching maternity. The birthing of a baby is a humbling experience. Assisting clients during their pregnancies, during their births, and helping them to learn to feed and care for their babies is rewarding. It is a privilege to care for clients during such a life-changing event. I hope all who enter my class will feel the same thrill that I feel.

Very close behind is my interest in genetics/genomics, which has blossomed during my professional life. I find the science fascinating and the implications for medicine boundless.

My teaching interests, other than maternity and genetics/genomics, include:
Pediatric Nursing
Evidence-based Practice
Measurement and Evaluation

Research Interests

Nursing education, especially the preparation of nursing faculty to teach genetics and genomics information.
