Personal StatementMy current interests focus on diversity, cultural competence, clinical training, leadership, women's issues and ethnic minority. The integration of research, service, teaching and self is reflected in my scholarship. I have applied my experience in leadership roles as director of a community health center, a child guidance clinic, and as dean to the understanding of leadership. I have integrated this with feminism and multiculturalism to contribute to the advancement of the profession of professional psychology and on public policy and professional issues, both nationally and locally on such issues as health care reform, health disparities, immigration, mental health and substance abuse. Within clinical practice and training, I emphasize transference/countertransference and therapist self-reflection, awareness of bias and difference, and integrating contextual factors of race, ethnicity, and gender as central to promoting therapeutic change in clients.
