Scenic Design, Lighting Design, Devising with Design, Multidisciplinary Collaboration
Design and creative processes in non-traditional collaborations;
Adelphi University Professional Development Grant. The $1500 grant provided funding for lighting equipment, shipping, and props for the East/West Project, a year-long bi-coastal collaboration between Bucknell University and Western Washington University using the Moment Work technique orginated by Moises Kaufmann and Tectonic Theatre Project. The final work, titled "American Family" was performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August 2011.

"Square Peg Round Hole". This new play by writer/director Andy Paris of Tectonic Theatre Project explores life on the autism spectrum. New York, NY (01/12); Bucknell University (05/12); University of Northern Iowa (11/12, 02/13). November 2012.
"Good Person of Szechwan". For this unique collaboration with composer Joel Mellin and puppet designer Eric Wright of Puppet Kitchen, we created a first-world meets third-world post-industrial environment, where children and old people are manipulated as puppets and the entire set is dismantled at the end of the play. "Spring Fling: My Best/Worst Date Ever". New York Innovative Theatre Award nomination: Outstanding Scenic Design Scenic design by Sarah Martin and Sara Nelson This collection of 6 plays and directors was produced by F*It Club at Interborough Repertory Theatre, New York, NY. "American Family". This year-long, multi-disciplinary, bi-coastal devising collaboration of the members of East-West Project, resulted in a brand new play, directed by Anjalee Nadkarni Hutchinson (Bucknell), Rich Brown, PhD (Western Washington), Andy Paris (Tectonic Theatre Project), Sarah Martin (Adelphi) and Mark Hutchinson (Bucknell). "The Triangle Factory Fire Project". This year long devising collaboration included a multi-disciplinary group of students who explored the social issues surrounding the historical event, alongside the conditions of sweat shop labor as it exists today. Directed by Maggie Lally and Sarah Martin. filmed at Adelphi University, Garden City, NY. April 2011.
"Grape Is Not Enough". This multi-disciplinary collaboration was an exploration of theatrical applications in service of film technologies and processes. Sreenplay by Kermit Frazier, directed by Joan Stein-Schimke, Production Design/Art Direction by Sara Nelson and Sarah Martin, original music by Sidney Boquiren, Garden City, NY. Adelphi University.
