Personal Statement

Personal Statement

My teaching is rooted in a life long studio practice of making drawings, paintings, collages and prints. It is my job to be sensitive to each student’s creative temperament and to connect the student to the materials, techniques and intellectual context that will serve her creative ambitions.

Learning to be a visual artist involves taking risks, being persistent in the face of difficulty, and engaging fearlessly in honest critical analysis. But underlying all creative work must be a thoughtful embrace of life and its rich diversity, which makes art both meaningful and alive.
