As an undergraduate student at the University of Georgia, he served as a resident assistant and president of the Zeta Pi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. He was the first Black student elected as president of the Student Government Association where he represented nearly 30,000 student peers. Additionally, he was very active in student clubs, internships, community-based volunteer programs, and intramural sports. As a graduate student, Dr. Rich served as a Graduate Resident Hall Director and developed programs to promote leadership and wellness among diverse students. As a college professor, he is committed to student engagement, inclusion and belonging. His research centers on workplace engagement and inclusion with a focus on Black men in Social Work. Dr. Rich enjoys reading, traveling, time with family and attending sporting events He is a lifelong fan of the Atlanta Falcons, but now embraces the New York sports teams. Dr. Rich looks forward to engaging students to promote their leadership, professional development, self-care and wellness in a supportive and professional setting on campus.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Rich has worked as a higher education consultant, licensed School Social Worker, CEO of a large non-profit and community-based leader. He is originally from Georgia and proudly calls New York home now. Dr. Rich holds earned degrees in Social Work, Human Development and Organizational Leadership.<\/p>\n<h2>Program Overview<\/h2>\n<p>The FIR Program, sponsored by the Division of Student Affairs and facilitated by the Office of Residential Life and Housing, strengthens the integration of academic and co-curricular experiences. The FIR is a live-in faculty member who, while collaborating with Residence Life staff to create an inclusive and dynamic residential learning environment, also maintains their academic responsibilities and contributes to the academic community.<\/p>\n<h3>Mission<\/h3>\n<p>The FIR plays a crucial role in cultivating a welcoming and affirming community that promotes student engagement, belonging, career readiness, and holistic development. By fostering meaningful faculty-student interactions, the FIR enhances student experience and contributes to lifelong learning and success, making your role as a faculty member in this program invaluable.<\/p>\n<h3>Position Goals<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Foster social, professional, and academic engagement to promote leadership, holistic development, and active participation in and beyond the classroom.<\/li>\n<li>Increase faculty presence and role modeling in residential programs and activities.<\/li>\n<li>Connect students with meaningful co-curricular opportunities, both on and off campus.<\/li>\n<li>Serve as a faculty and residential students\u2019 liaison to foster significant interactions outside the classroom.<\/li>\n<li>Design and implement programs that promote student learning, inclusivity, and community engagement.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Eligibility and Terms of Service<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The position is open to full-time faculty. Preference will be given to those with experience in student learning, residential life, and academic engagement.<\/li>\n<li>Appointment is for two years, with an optional third year by mutual agreement.<\/li>\n<li>The FIR must move in by mid-August and participate in student move-in programs and events.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Benefits<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Unfurnished, air-conditioned, on-campus apartment, including parking, utilities, Wi-Fi, and cable.<\/li>\n<li>Meal stipend provided as a declining balance on the Adelphi ID Card.<\/li>\n<li>Access to designated space for student programming.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Research demonstrates that these interactions significantly enhance students\u2019 intellectual growth, independence, interpersonal skills, and overall personal development.
