In other great news, Assistant Professor <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.adelphi.edu\/faculty\/profiles\/profile.php?PID=0975\"><span>Kevin Liang<\/span><\/a><span>, PhD, received a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.adelphi.edu\/news\/adelphi-physics-professor-wins-242k-nsf-grant-to-push-boundaries-of-image-resolution\/\"><span>large grant from the National Science Foundation<\/span><\/a><span> to support his research with optical devices. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Our physics students have been busy: <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span>Four attended the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/engage.aps.org\/dls\/home\"><span>American Physical Society\u2019s Division of Laser Science<\/span><\/a><span> physics meeting in Denver in October with Associate Professor <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.adelphi.edu\/faculty\/profiles\/profile.php?PID=0002\"><span>Sean Bentley<\/span><\/a><span>, PhD. While there, they visited a quantum computing company that employs Adelphi alum Daniel Stack, PhD. <\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span>Four other students also attended the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/students.aip.org\/congress\"><span>Sigma Pi Sigma Physics Congress<\/span><\/a><span> in Denver last October. <\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span>Kylie Goldade, Class of 2026 and former Physics Club president, was elected as the Associate Zone Counselor for New York and Eastern Canada for the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/students.aip.org\/sps\"><span>Society of Physics Students<\/span><\/a><span>.<\/span>\n<p><div id=\"attachment_147\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-147\" class=\"wp-image-147 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.adelphi.edu\/physics-newsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/80\/2026\/03\/Screenshot-252-300x176.png\" alt=\"Female student in front of a wall that says Physics\" width=\"300\" height=\"176\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.adelphi.edu\/physics-newsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/80\/2026\/03\/Screenshot-252-300x176.png 300w, https:\/\/www.adelphi.edu\/physics-newsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/80\/2026\/03\/Screenshot-252-768x450.png 768w, https:\/\/www.adelphi.edu\/physics-newsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/80\/2026\/03\/Screenshot-252.png 854w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-147\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Current Physics Club President Carolina Guekjian created this amazing mural in the department<\/p><\/div><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span><span>Carolina Guekjian, a junior physics major, was named one of five 2026 national winners of the Nadine Barlow Undergraduate Research Support Award from the Council on Undergraduate Research. The award will help fund her research project, Quantum Entanglement-Based Magnetic Field Sensor, performed with her research mentor, Prof Sean Bentley.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span>We\u2019re also reaching out to high school and college students to encourage the pursuit of physics degrees through the new conference,<a href=\"https:\/\/engage.adelphi.edu\/g\/cosmic-pathways\"> Cosmic Pathways<\/a>. I led this year\u2019s conference, funded by a grant from PhysTEC, at City College, along with an amazing team of Adelphi students and alums. We are seeking alumni in the New York City and Chicago areas to help as speakers for this event, please reach out to <\/span><a href=\"mailto:mwright@adelphi.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mwright@adelphi.edu<\/a><span>.
