Kennedy in 1961, the Peace Corps<\/a> is a government agency that sends volunteers to over sixty countries to share their particular skills and areas of expertise. Their mission is “putting purpose, passion and skills to work for America and the world.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Peace Corps Prep<\/span><\/h2>\n

The Prep program is open to all undergraduate students, regardless of whether or not you apply for the Peace Corps after graduation. <\/span>Whether you\u2019re looking to launch an international career, volunteer with a service organization like the Peace Corps or simply expand your horizons, this program will help you bring your vision to life.<\/p>\n

Besides on-the-ground volunteer experience and intensive training in intercultural competency, this program offers a fully interdisciplinary approach, making it perfect for anyone with an interest in education, healthcare, the environment, agriculture, youth development or economic development.<\/p>\n

This program is backed by Adelphi\u2019s long-standing tradition of global engagement<\/a>, from the Levermore Global Scholars program<\/a> to our many study abroad opportunities<\/a>.<\/p>\n

    Program Components<\/h2>\n

    Area-specific Courses and Service<\/span><\/h3>\n

    Get hands-on experience with the projects that matter most to you.<\/em><\/p>\n

    Complete at least three courses and 50 hours of volunteer work in the work sector of your choice. Choose from one of the following 6 sectors<\/span>:<\/p>\n

      You will meet with an adviser to discuss the best options for you.<\/p>\n

      Intercultural Competence<\/h3>\n

      Break down cultural barriers, starting in the classroom.<\/em><\/p>\n

      Take three courses that will help you learn about other histories and cultures while reflecting on your own experiences. These courses provide transformative opportunities to develop new skills, knowledge and perspectives. You\u2019ll be empowered to collaborate with people in any community, anywhere in the world, bridging your differences and creating lasting connections.<\/p>\n

      You can also fulfill this component by engaging in an intercultural experience\u2014like studying, volunteering or teaching abroad\u2014or taking courses in another language.<\/p>\n

      Professional and Leadership Development<\/h3>\n

      Build a career-ready foundation for your next step.<\/em><\/p>\n

      Serving with the Peace Corps and other global service organizations requires a high level of professionalism. In this program, you\u2019ll take the steps to make yourself a competitive candidate for these\u2014or any other\u2014positions.<\/p>\n
