The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International) has reaccredited Adelphi University’s Robert B. Willumstad School of Business. Less than 5 percent of business programs around the world are AACSB International accredited, a designation which indicates the highest standards in business education and leadership.

Adelphi has had the accreditation status since 2007. The organization reviews and decides on reaccreditation every five years.

“The reaffirmation of our accreditation recognizes the high standards that define our curriculum, our cocurricular programs and student support services, and the qualifications of our student-centered faculty,” said Rajib Sanyal, Ph.D., dean of Adelphi’s business school. “I thank our many stakeholders, external and internal, for their continued support and commitment to the Willumstad School, which enables us to offer a first-rate business education to our students.”

The peer review team from AACSB International singled out the school’s formal student internship program, in which students are assigned mentors as a unique feature. It also noted that the School’s Practitioner’s Perspective lecture series—which centers around the themes of ethics, sustainability and innovation—was a good way to connect with the business community, enabling students and faculty to stay abreast of current industry practices. The team was also impressed by the high levels of scholarly work produced by faculty members and that the faculty includes many well-qualified practitioners.

Dean Sanyal added, “AACSB International accreditation is an assurance that the curriculum at Adelphi University is relevant and contemporary, that our faculty are fully qualified to teach in their disciplines, that sufficient support services exist to ensure that student learning is taking place and that our students are fully prepared for the world of work when they graduate.”

Adelphi’s Robert B. Willumstad School of Business offers undergraduate programs in accounting, economics, finance, management and marketing. Graduate programs include an M.B.A., an Accelerated M.B.A., the Global M.B.A. and an M.S. in Supply Chain Management.
