Services and supports also include collaboration with faculty, staff and campus-wide support services, fostering independence and integration consistent with the Adelphi University experience.<\/p>\n<h2>Our History<\/h2>\n<p>It all began in 1979, when Adelphi University, under the leadership of Fred Barbaro, began one of the first academic support programs for college students with learning differences in the country. A unique feature of the Program was its multidisciplinary approach. As universities and Adelphi evolve, so do the lives, skill sets and needs of students. The Learning Resource Program has responded to those needs with a shortened summer session for first-year students, a Campus Ally Program, and most recently, the introduction of executive function coaching sessions and weekly workshops.<\/p>\n<p>Today, the Learning Resource Program boasts hundreds of alumni who thrive in the professions and the business world.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Using a supportive environment for academic and social success, the Program delivers individualized sessions provided by educational and counseling professionals that focus on the strengths, talents and needs of the student.
