Post-Completion Optional Practical Training (OPT) may be authorized for up to 12 months per educational level for employment that is directly related to the student\u2019s major area of study.<\/p>\n

A job offer is not required to apply for OPT.<\/em><\/p>\n

Application Process for Post-Completion OPT<\/h2>\n

  1. Check Your Eligibility<\/strong> \u2014 Confirm you meet the requirements<\/li>\n
  2. When to File<\/strong> \u2014 Confirm your OPT filing window based on your program end date<\/li>\n
  3. Request Your DSO-Endorsed I-20<\/strong> \u2014 Submit your request to International Services<\/li>\n
  4. Receive Your New Form I-20<\/strong> \u2014 Wait for OPT-endorsed I-20<\/li>\n
  5. Gather Required Evidence<\/strong> \u2014 Prepare the documents and evidence required for your application<\/li>\n
  6. File Form I-765 With USCIS<\/strong> \u2014 Submit your application to USCIS<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Depending on your travel history and your Admit Until Date, you may also be required to submit Form I-539, Application to Extend\/Change Nonimmigrant Status<\/a>, with USCIS.<\/p>\n

    EOS requirements may depend on your individual immigration circumstances. Consult with International Services before filing to determine which applications are required.<\/p>\n
