Students develop strong critical, analytical and writing skills while producing work for academic and public audiences.<\/p>\n<p>To receive credit for research or independent creative work:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Connect with faculty early to explore your interests in literature, writing or rhetoric<\/li>\n<li>Identify a focus area such as fiction, poetry, nonfiction, literary studies or digital storytelling<\/li>\n<li>Develop a research project, thesis or creative portfolio under faculty mentorship<\/li>\n<li>Register for independent study or research credits with departmental approval<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Students present their work at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adelphi.edu\/research\/conference\/\">Adelphi Scholarship and Creative Works Conference<\/a> and may also pursue internships, literary journals, writing conferences, publication opportunities, and other professional and creative experiences.<\/p>\n<p>Through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adelphi.edu\/research\/undergraduate\/\">SPARK Center<\/a> (Scholars Pursuing Arts, Research and Knowledge), students can receive funding, mentorship, and support for independent research, creative writing projects and conference participation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From your first year, you can engage in hands-on learning in areas such as creative writing, literary analysis, rhetoric and digital storytelling.
