The following 2023-2024 merit-based awards are renewed each year and are subject to the terms and conditions outlined for each award.

First-Year Student Awards

As a new incoming first-year student, you are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships upon acceptance to Adelphi University. If you are eligible, you’ll receive a Scholarship Letter from the Office of University Admissions.

To maximize your eligibility for financial aid, first-year students are encouraged to file the FAFSA before the priority deadline.

Academic Awards for First-Year Students

Academic (merit) scholarships are awarded to entering full-time first-year students with exceptional academic achievement. Eligibility depends upon demonstrating notable academic potential through high school performance and standardized testing (if submitted).

Range of awards: Awards range from $10,000-$32,000 per year for full-time (12+ credits) incoming first-year students.

Special provisions and renewal criteria: Refer to the Terms and Conditions for Adelphi University Presidential Scholarship, Adelphi University Deans Award and Adelphi University High School Achievement Award.

For full-time (12+ credits) entering first-year students whose profiles meet the requirements for an academic award and who demonstrate exceptional talent in theatre, dance, art, music or communications. You must audition or submit a portfolio for the department of your chosen major, and a declared major in your talent area is required.

Range of awards: Awards are based upon the individual’s audition or portfolio review and academic record. Both academics and talent are carefully considered in determining the combined awards.

Special provisions and renewal criteria: Refer to the Terms and Conditions for Adelphi University Presidential Talent Scholarship, Adelphi University Deans Talent Award, and Adelphi High School Achievement Talent Award.

The Honors College Scholarship is offered to newly admitted full-time (12+ credits) first-time first-year students who are accepted into the Honors College. This scholarship is designed to recognize outstanding achievements and will supplement other scholarships and awards for which you are eligible.

Range of awards: The award is $3,000 per year and may be combined with other scholarships and/or grant awards not to exceed tuition and fees.

Special provisions and renewal criteria: Refer to the Terms and Conditions for the Adelphi Honors College Scholarship.

The Levermore Global Scholars Award is offered to newly admitted full-time (12+ credits) first-time first-year students who are accepted into the Levermore Global Scholars program. This scholarship is designed to recognize outstanding achievements and will supplement other scholarships and awards for which you are eligible.

Range of awards: The award is $3,000 per year and may be combined with other scholarships and/or grant awards not to exceed tuition and fees.

Special provisions and renewal criteria: Refer to the Terms and Conditions for the Adelphi Levermore Global Scholars Award.

Recognition Awards for First-Year Students

These awards are available for students who have achieved either the Eagle Scout, Girl Scout Gold or Explorer Award in high school. For award consideration, students must provide proof of the scout award. These awards are valued at $1,000 per year.

Special Provisions and renewal criteria: The applicant must be an Eagle Scout, Girl Scout Gold Award recipient or an Explorer Scout and must have completed and submitted proof of receipt of the award to the Office of University Admissions. Transfer Student Awards

As a new transfer student, you are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships upon acceptance to Adelphi University. If you are eligible, you’ll receive a Scholarship Letter from the Office of University Admissions.

To maximize your eligibility for financial aid, transfer students are encouraged to file the FAFSA before the priority deadline.

Offered to new, full-time students (12+ credits) who demonstrate high academic achievement.

Range of awards: Award amounts are based on the individual’s academic profile and start at $17,000 per year.

Special Provisions: Refer to the Terms and Conditions for the Adelphi University Transfer Scholarship.

An additional $1,000 award annually is offered to new, full-time transfer students (12+ credits) from Kingsborough Community College, LaGuardia Community College, Nassau Community College, Queensborough Community College and Suffolk County Community College who have obtained an A.A., A.S. or A.A.S degree.

Range of award: This award is $1,000 per year and may be combined with other scholarship awards.

To qualify for the award, you must receive an academic or talent award. Additionally, you must enroll full-time (12 or more credits) at Adelphi University. The following scholarships and awards are applicable:

  • Adelphi University Transfer Scholarship
  • Adelphi University Transfer Talent Scholarship
  • Adelphi University Talent Award

Upon receiving the award, you must enroll at Adelphi University following your graduation from an above partner school. Students who enroll elsewhere, and then wish to transfer to Adelphi University will not be eligible for this award.

Special Provisions: Refer to the Terms and Conditions for the Adelphi University Community College Partnership Award.

Offered to new, full-time transfer students (12+ credits) who demonstrate high academic achievement. For new transfers, criteria include a transfer GPA of at least 3.0 and proof of Phi Theta Kappa membership.

Range of award: This award is $1,000 per year and may be combined with other scholarship awards.

Special Provisions: Refer to the Terms and Conditions for the Adelphi University Phi Theta Kappa Award.

The Adelphi University Phi Theta Kappa Select Award for full-time students (12+ credits) is offered to new, full-time transfer students who demonstrate high academic achievement and a commitment to service in the community. For new transfers, the initial criteria include a transfer GPA of at least 3.3 and proof of Phi Theta Kappa membership.

Application process: To be eligible, a separate Phi Theta Kappa Select application is required*. Proof of Phi Theta Kappa membership must be attached with the Select Award application. Eligible students will receive a letter of notification from the admissions committee.

*Make sure to enter the email address that you used in connection with your application to Adelphi.

Application deadline: January 1 for spring applicants, and July 1 for fall applicants.

Range of awards: This Phi Theta Kappa Select award is $2,500 per year and a limited amount of awards will be awarded to new, full-time transfer students. This award cannot be combined with other Phi Theta Kappa scholarship awards.

Special Provisions: Refer to the Terms and Conditions for the Adelphi University Phi Theta Kappa Select Award.

The Adelphi University Tau Sigma Award application is open to students who have been a member of the Tau Sigma National Honor Society for a minimum of one semester. Students must have an Adelphi University GPA of at least 3.5 and must be a registered full-time transfer student.

Application process: Students must complete the Tau Sigma Award application. Eligible students will receive a letter of notification from the Center for Student Involvement.

Application deadline: Applications will become available for submission after the fall semester and are due by January 1.

Range of awards: A maximum of $1,000 will be awarded to up to five students. This award is a one-time award.

Special provisions: Refer to the Terms and Conditions for the Adelphi University Tau Sigma Award.

For new full-time (12+ credits) transfer students whose profiles meet the requirements for a transfer award and who demonstrate exceptional talent in theatre, dance, art, music or communications. Institutional scholarships and grants are applicable to tuition and, in some cases, fees. The University reserves the right to adjust the financial assistance previously awarded when these awards in combination with other sources of assistance exceed the cost of tuition and fees, including BUT not limited to Veterans Affairs educational benefits, external awards and state scholarships and grants. Undergraduate scholarships and grants are generally awarded for full-time enrollment. The University’s full-time attendance enrollment requirement may be eliminated in cases of qualifying disabilities as deemed appropriate by the Student Access Office. For more information about this waiver of the full-time enrollment requirement, please contact the One-Stop Student Services Center. Note about non-degree, certificate programs or programs not offered at our main Garden City campus: Please consult with the One-Stop Student Services Center about your aid eligibility since this may differ from what is available to students enrolled in programs leading to a degree or those who attend our other locations.
