Whether you\u2019re looking to launch an international career, volunteer with a service organization like the Peace Corps or simply expand your horizons, this program will help you bring your vision to life.<\/p>\n<p>Besides on-the-ground volunteer experience and intensive training in intercultural competency, this program offers a fully interdisciplinary approach, making it perfect for anyone with an interest in education, healthcare, the environment, agriculture, youth development or economic development.<\/p>\n<p>This program is backed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adelphi.edu\/provost\/global-engagement\/\">Adelphi\u2019s long-standing tradition of global engagement<\/a>, from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adelphi.edu\/lgs\/\">Levermore Global Scholars program<\/a> to our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adelphi.edu\/study-abroad\/\">many study abroad opportunities<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Program Benefits<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Earn a certificate from a widely recognized U.S. organization.<\/li>\n<li>Build greater intercultural and international competence.<\/li>\n<li>Enhance your professional development.<\/li>\n<li>Fine-tune your r\u00e9sum\u00e9 and interview skills.<\/li>\n<li>Gain an edge over other applicants when applying to a service organization.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Program Components<\/h2>\n<h3>Sector-Specific Work Experience and Training<\/h3>\n<p><em>Get hands-on experience with the projects that matter most to you.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Complete at least three courses and 50 hours of volunteer work in the work sector of your choice. There are many options for everyone, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Education: <\/strong>Teach lessons that last a lifetime and strengthen relationships among families, schools and communities by working as a math, science, English, resource or reading\/literacy teacher.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Health: <\/strong>Address urgent global health crises, such as malnutrition, maternal and child health, hygiene, and malaria and HIV\/AIDS, by working alongside clinics and healthcare providers on culturally competent, community-first strategies.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Environment:<\/strong> Create a more sustainable world by promoting efforts to protect local natural resources and enhance people\u2019s knowledge of environmental issues.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You will meet with an adviser to discuss the best options for you.<\/p>\n<h3>Intercultural Competence<\/h3>\n<p><em>Break down cultural barriers, starting in the classroom.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Take three courses that will help you learn about other histories and cultures while reflecting on your own experiences. These courses provide transformative opportunities to develop new skills, knowledge and perspectives. You\u2019ll be empowered to collaborate with people in any community, anywhere in the world, bridging your differences and creating lasting connections.<\/p>\n<p>You can also fulfill this component by engaging in an intercultural experience\u2014like studying, volunteering or teaching abroad\u2014or taking courses in another language.<\/p>\n<h3>Professional and Leadership Development<\/h3>\n<p><em>Build a career-ready foundation for your next step.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Serving with the Peace Corps and other global service organizations requires a high level of professionalism.
