Students are introduced to the fundamental concepts and knowledge of emerging health technologies. This course will cover topics such as wireless medical devices, web-based health applications, social networking, mobile health, e-Health, connected health, personal medicine, hardware sensor, and software sensing technologies, wearable computing, and robotics in medicine.

Learning Goals:

Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to: 1. Describe the purpose, attributes, and functions of patient monitoring systems.2. Analyze how the integration of data from many sources assists in making clinical decisions.3. Discuss how telehealth communication technologies support clinical care.4. Define an information system.5. Describe specialized information systems.6. Explain how information systems are used in healthcare.7. Describe the latest advances in medical technology.
