Parents of Adelphi University Students

Adelphi Parent Orientation, Parents Association, and More

Parents and families are an important part of the Adelphi Community. Whether your student has been attending Adelphi for one or more semesters, is just getting started at AU as a first college experience, or is transferring from another institution to complete a degree, all parents and guardians want to be informed. Various resources are available to provide information and updates about Adelphi University, including the Parents Association, the Parent Handbook and the eNews Panther Parent. Throughout the semester, important information on Health Alerts, reminders about Dates and Deadlines, and updates on News and Events will be posted on this site.

Parents of Freshman are encouraged to attend the Adelphi Parent Orientation and Matriculation Day, as both you and your student are getting started at AU.  The Parent Orientation program provides information about academic programs and campus services available at Adelphi. Matriculation Day is a time honored and formal ceremony to welcome incoming freshmen to the community of scholars.  Parents who have attended in previous years have commented on how special this program is.

For all parents, we encourage you to attend the Parents Association meetings to become informed about resources and programs which offer support to Adelphi students.  As a parent or guardian of an undergraduate student, you are automatically a member of this organization. Topics and speakers at the Parents Association meetings are designed with parents in mind.  Involvement in the Parents Association also provides an opportunity to meet other Adelphi parents.

In order to guide your student during his or her college career, it is important to be aware of services and events which evolve during the semester. Keeping parents informed fosters a partnership to help your student succeed.
For parents of residential students, answers to frequently asked questions are available on the Residential Life and Housing site to help guide you in moving your student into campus housing.  Through the Center for Student Involvement's , commuter students have many services and programs available to them, and can refer to the Commuter Student Services website for details about the Commuter Student Organization, Commuter Hot Line and other resources.

As a member of the larger Adelphi family, we welcome you to campus to cheer on an Adelphi athletic team or attend an event, including a lecture, exhibition, or performance. Check the Cultural Events Calendar and the AU Panthers Athletics website for upcoming events.

Again, whether your family is beginning or continuing at Adelphi, our intent is to help you along the way, keeping you up to date on services, programs and events.  Please consult Adelphi’s website for details.  For additional information, or to direct comments or questions, contact parents@adelphi.edu.
Welcome to the Adelphi community.
