Dr. Peter I. Chernack is the faculty director of the Center for Nonprofit Leadership at Adelphi University. He has more thirty years of management, direct service, academic administration, and teaching experience. Peter is on the faculty of Adelphi’s School of Social Work where he also serves as Associate Dean for Program Development and Administration.
Peter teaches graduate courses in social policy, organizational management and leadership, and an advanced integrative seminar in contemporary social work. His background in gerontology, health care, mental health, and social work education inform his interests and scholarship in nonprofit leadership development, service delivery, workforce development, geriatric mental health, and social work field education. In addition to his teaching responsibilities and work with the Center for Nonprofit Leadership, Peter is chiefly responsible for advancing university and community partnerships, supporting faculty research, and overseeing program development initiatives at the school. He is a member of the social policy committee, curriculum committee, assessment committee (chair), and the University-wide Assessment Committee. His leadership positions extend beyond the school and university to professional associations, private foundation work, and various community engagements.
Peter earned a Master’s in Social Work in 1980 and completed his doctorate in social work in 2001 at Adelphi. |
