Experience a true learning community in monthly half-day seminars. Learn in a setting that will inspire you to move your goals into actions.
As reported in the July 15, 2011, Philanthropy Journal, today’s leaders need to be willing to do things differently.
No matter what your nonprofit experience, Learning to Lead can prepare you to take a pivotal leadership role.
The second annual Center for Nonprofit Leadership Learning to Lead: Within Yourself, Your Organization, Your Community, is a leadership development certificate program that combines the best of doing and discussing, with formal learning.
Certificate candidates work on their personal leadership styles and learn specific skills to effectively lead in their organizations and communities. Learning to Lead embraces the challenge of leadership while extending mission beyond organizational walls.
Certificate Candidates will:
- Explore leadership strengths, weaknesses, and strategies for continuing professional development
- Gain practical business skills for leading and building diverse teams, managing finances, projecting solid stewardship, developing governance, building critical know-how for communication and fundraising
- Identify techniques to affect change in their communities, including advocacy methods, creating networks, exploring and vetting collaborations
- Develop a personal leadership career plan within the nonprofit sector
Beginning in January, new and emerging nonprofit community leaders will work on completion of the program and receive a Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership from Adelphi University.
This program is made possible through the generous support of the JPMorgan Chase Foundation and the Nassau County Youth Board.
Scholarships for Learning to Lead participants were provided by the Nassau County Youth Board and the Bank of America through the United Way of Long Island.
