GET ON BOARD.
What is it?
Get On Board is a training designed to introduce you to the basics of board service in a nonprofit organization and guide you through the decision about how and where to serve.
What will the training curriculum include?
In an informal format, the training will explore the motives for board service, provide an overview of the nonprofit sector and its organizations, describe the basic responsibilities of board membership, explain the variety of board cultures, and clarify the information that you should have before joining a board.
When and Where is the Training?
Thursday, June 24, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Adelphi University's Garden City Campus in the Center for Recreation and Sports Campbell Lounge. The training will be followed by light refreshments and a Board Fair from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
What is the Board Fair?
The Board Fair is your opportunity to meet representatives from a variety of Long Island nonprofits to learn about their organizations and board service needs.
