Andrew J. Peters worked with LGBT youth for 18 years at a community-based organization, providing support for coming out, addressing institutional homophobia and transphobia, and organizing students to create research and advocacy. Prior to his professional life as a social worker, he was coming out himself as a gay man, first at a college campus and then as a graduate MSW student. Mr. Peters will discuss his personal experience and his professional experience as it relates to the status of LGBT students in colleges and the challenges and opportunities therein.
