Wednesday, March 9, 2011 in Garden City

Do you work with victims of domestic violence?

If so, take advantage of Economics Against Abuse Training, a remarkable opportunity sponsored by the Allstate Foundation.

The Economics Against Abuse Training is a train-the trainer program that provides an opportunity for professionals of domestic violence and women's service organizations to deliver financial empowerment training directly to clients of their organizations. This initiative puts program delivery in the control of the organization. The sessions will be conducted by the New York State Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

Fundraising in Times of Great Uncertainty

with Stephanie Roth

3:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m., Reception to follow
Fee: $20, $5 for each additional guest

Stephanie Roth, one of the country's best known fundraising consultants for grassroots groups, former Editor of the Grassroots Fundraising Journal, and co-author of The Accidental Fundraiser: A Step-by-Step Guide to Raising Money for Your Cause will be offering a special program/workshop for
Long Island's nonprofit leaders.   Topics will include:

  • What kinds of trends are LI groups seeing with regard to the economy, demographic changes, types of employment and unemployment in the region, etc. and what is their impact on nonprofits and their ability to generate sufficient resources for their work?

  • How to think about fundraising in the context of generational changes - in the leadership of nonprofits, in the trends of aging donor bases, the use of new technology, particularly social networking, to engage new and younger donors, etc.?

  • What does fundraising leadership look like anyway?  What do we mean by this and how can groups move in this direction?
