Katherine Wilson is a PhD Candidate at the City University of New York. Her academic projects explore book history (also known as “the sociology of material texts”), especially related to theater playscripts. As secondary subjects she explores Arabic Theater and theater for social change through socio-economic and gendered lenses. She has published articles in all three areas. After an education in New York City public schools and a BA from Swarthmore College, she worked with children and youth in a variety of programs. Throughout the 1990s, she was involved in alternative theater as a playwright and artist, staging work in New York off-off-Broadway venues, after which she earned an MFA in playwriting (CUNY), and then returned to scholarship, and started teaching college in 2003. Outside school and theater, she is involved in efforts promoting international human rights.
