About the speaker
Rachael Richardson is a water organizer for Food and Water Watch, a national organization working to defend our vital resources. She is one of the coordinators of the Take Back the Tap New York City campaign and is responsible for volunteer and outreach coordination, project planning, and implementation. Take Back the Tap is about protecting our water from the watershed to the faucet, and fighting to protect the public's right to water and end the trend towards water privatization. Food and Water Watch has water organizers in many communities across the country and contacts and collaborators around the globe. Riverkeeper, FWW’s partner organization, has been working to defend NYC's watershed for years. In Take Back the Tap NYC, both organizations (Food and water Watch and Riverkeeper) have joined together to work with city government officials, local institutions such as schools and libraries, businesses, volunteers, and interns to educate civilians about water issues and mobilize support for legislation that will protect our water and make our infrastructure more sustainable.
