About the Speaker
Rita Mainaly teaches human rights, electoral and procedural law at the Kathmandu School of Law in Nepal, while conducting her own research ON the protection of women and children during armed conflict. Previously, she has worked as a legal aid lawyer at the Center for Legal Research and Resource Development (CeLRRd) - an NGO working ON ISSUES AROUND anti-trafficking, criminal justice, conflict transformation and inclusive democracy. There she represented and provided counseling to women who were victims of violence in court rulings. As a resource officer in various outreach programs, she has organized paralegal training for rural women and various village development committees. Moreover, Rita coordinated the works of the Women Wing of Appeal Court Bar Association in the Lalitpur district. Rita has published a literacy book for rural women in Nepali, studied conflict victim widows and their social security and conducted research on various topics such as the juvenile justice system in Nepal. Rita is currently an international guest of the International Center for Tolerance Education,
