A Discussion on Islamophobia and a Focus on Moving Towards Understanding
Haroon Moghul is Executive Director of The Maydan Institute, a consultancy devoted to enhancing knowledge of Islam and Muslims for private and public audiences. Mr. Moghul was Director of Public Relations at the Islamic Center at New York University. He holds an M.A. and M. Phil. in Middle East, South Asian and African Studies from Columbia University, where he is currently a Ph.D. candidate.
Formerly contributing editor and end-page columnist for Islamica Magazine, Mr, Moghul also maintains an award-winning blog, Avari. His essays have been published in a variety of international media, including Huffington Post and Religion Dispatches. Haroon's first novel, "The Order of Light," was released by Penguin Global in 2006. A French translation, published by Cherche Midi, was released in late 2007.
In 2009, he was nominated for the Presidential Award for Best Teaching by a Graduate Student at Columbia University. Through the Islamic Center at NYU new media services, his sermons reach over 30,000 listeners per month in approximately 125 countries.
