Bus Trip to Ellis Island

We will take the ferry from Battery Park and walk under the Statue of Liberty, then go on to Ellis Island. You can choose to join us for a tour or guide yourself.

Schedule:

10:00 AM	Leave from security booth at Adelphi by South St. entrance
11:00 AM	Arrive Battery Park - Eat lunch
11:30 AM	Ferry to Statue of Liberty
11:45 AM - 12:45 PM	Statue of Liberty
1:35 PM	Ferry to Ellis Island
1:45 PM - 4:50 PM	Ellis Island
4:50 PM	Return to Battery Park
5:00 PM - 6:00 PM	Return to Adelphi

We will have a cooler on the bus for carrying snacks, lunches and drinks. You cannot take any food on the ferry, though food will be available for purchase. You are welcome to leave early or to return to Adelphi on your own. Please email pepper@adelphi.edu if you would like to attend.

Trip to Ellis Island was part of the activities related to New York city that addressed the current debate on immigration and border closing through historical lenses of waves of immigrants who passed through Ellis Island to reach and settle in the United States.
