The LGS Alternative Spring Break in the Dominican Republic was set up as a collaborative undertaking with the Orphanage Outreach that has extensive experience in offering various community-based and service-oriented short and long term programs in Monte Cristi, Dominican Republic, to help orphaned, abandoned, and disadvantaged children.
Nine Adelphi students, four LGS and five non-LGS students, participated in the program. The volunteer week with Orphanage Outreach in Monte Cristi consisted of the following:
Saturday: Traveling to the orphanage
Sunday: Orientation and preparation day
Monday-Thursday: work days
Friday: Volunteer field trip to see some of the country.
Saturday: Volunteers travel home.
