Rock It and Wrap It Up (Rock It)
Information | Guidelines | Locations

Stage I of Adelphi's Rock It and Wrap It Up Program is coordinating with On-campus donors. After selecting events which would have extra unserved food left over, an ARW representatives contact the organizations running them to set up a ARW sponsored food run.
This is the procedure used to coordinate with On-campus donors.
- Select an Event which might be able to donate food, like a diner or club meeting.
- Call the event's coordinator to discuss how you want to involve them in ARW.
- At the Meeting be sure to explain:
- ARW's Goal.
- How they are protected by The Bill Emerson Good Samaritan Law.
- What food is eligible and how it is handled.
- Who Receives their food.
- How ARW operates a food run.
- Schedule what time ARW Staff can go to the even and pick up the food.
Next, contact the director of the Soup Kitchen or Shelter you want to deliver the food to. Make sure to discuss:
- What ARW is.
- The amount and type of food you can deliver.
- What time ARW Staff can deliver it.
Sometimes the event runs too late or the are not enough ARW Staff are availble to deliver the food, so it may be stored in the LGS refrigerator in Science Room 103.
ARW Staff consist of LGS Volunteers who live both on and off campus. All are full time students at Adelphi, so it is important to coordinate food pickups and drop-offs around every schedule. When ARW Staff pick up the food, they must inspect the food to make sure it meets ARW/RWU requirements. Proper materials must also be used when handling the food. AWR Staff also go in pairs or greater when transporting food.
Adelphi's Rock It and Wrap It Up (ARW) started in Spring of 2007 when the Levermore Global Scholars sent Matthew and Brittany to Molloy's Hunger Symposium. With the help of many other LGS students, ARW is now in Stage II, establishing regular donors Off campus.

Stage II of Adelphi's Rock It and Wrap It Up Program is establishing Off campus donors. After selecting organizations which would be able to supple food, ARW representatives visit them and meet with their managers in hope of setting up a regular service.
This is the procedure used to create off campuss donors.
- Select an Organization which might be able to donate food, like a private school or pizza place.
- Call and set up an appointment with them to speak with a manager or administrator.
- At the Meeting be sure to explain:
- ARW's Goal.
- How they are protected by The Bill Emerson Good Samaritan Law.
- What food is eligible and how it is handled.
- Who Receives their food.
- How ARW operates a food run.
- Schedule a trial run.
If the Trial run is successful, meet again and create a system for continuos donations and runs.
