Volunteering for the Have a Heart Children's Cancer Society

On April 3-5, three LGS students, Michelle Consorte, Theressa Eliscar and Lendelle Raymond, volunteered for the Have a Heart Children's Cancer Society at Nassau Coliseum. Below is a reflection of the event, written by Michelle Consorte.

This weekend I volunteered for the Have a Heart Children's Cancer Society during a fundraiser at Nassau Coliseum. I worked with the organization for about six hours raising awareness and funds for local children who are currently battling cancer. We set up a table at the Home Show in the basement of the Coliseum and asked people who attended if they would donate a dollar or two to help children who have cancer. I really enjoyed working with the organization because it is tackling a global problem at a local level. In this way the organization creates a big impact in a small area. While the pictures of struggling children strew about the table were depressing and disheartening, this organization represents hope for them and the many others who are battling this terrible illness and I was honored to be able to take part in their efforts.
