Academic Program and Faculty Second Year of Studies

This web page is being reviewed and is expected to be updated for the Fall 2009 semester. In the meantime, please contact the department's administrative office for updates about academic requirements.

LGS Sophomores take specially designed global issues courses in the Fall and Spring semesters. LGS Global Issues courses explore processes of globalization that generate two seemingly contradicting trends; cooperation and integration (global issues I) and conflict and disintegration (global issues II). Global issues I and II meet Adelphi’s general education requirements in social science and count towards the International Studies major.

LGS concentration:
During the LGS global issues II class during the Spring semester, LGS Scholars form concentration groups of between two to four students and select their LGS concentration themes. The themes will guide the scholars' work during their remaining two years of LGS studies. More information.

In the second year of studies LGS Scholars are strongly encouraged to study abroad for a semester, Winter, or Summer program in a country of their interest, or undertake a credited LGS community internship.
