Teaching for Peace and Human Rights Conference
Adelphi University Ruth S. Ammon School of Education, in conjunction with the United Nations, will hold its first annual conference on "Teaching for Peace and Human Rights." This two-day conference will provide a forum for teachers from around the world to develop curricula that will integrate peace and human rights education into the classroom.
The first session will be held at the Adelphi University Garden City campus on May 1, 2008 and will be followed by a second session at the United Nations headquarters in New York City on May 2, 2008.

Adelphi is dedicated to expanding global awareness through education and communication. Through co-sponsored conferences with the United Nations, study abroad programs, and sponsored events of the International Initiatives Committee, Adelphi's extends it commitment as an "engaged university" in the world community.
Adelphi builds on its long tradition of international interest and service. In 2003 the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations of the Department of Public Information (DPI) of the United Nations approved Adelphi as a non-governmental organization (NGO).
Cultural events, courses, and co-curricular activities, including the acclaimed Ambassador Series sponsored by the International Initiatives Committee, are designed to broaden knowledge and foster dialogue about global issues.
Students participating in the Levermore Global Scholars Program have the opportunity for community involvement at the local, national, and international level.
