Completion of the 64-credit program prepares students for direct, contemporary practice in a wide array of fields and services.
All first-year students take the same ten courses:
• two consider social welfare policy
• two analyze theories and models of human behavior
• two present theories of social work practice
• one teaches about diversity, oppression, and human rights
• one teaches the methods of empirical research
• two provide supervised field instruction.
Second-year M.S.W. students must complete ten courses—6 credits of a supervised field internship and the following classroom courses:
• two courses in advanced social work practice
• one course in social work assessment and diagnosis
• one course in advanced social work research
• one course in the organizational context for professional practice
• a capstone course integrating learning across the curriculum
• two elective courses.
