The Green Community is home to students who are committed to an environmentally friendly lifestyle and interested in the promotion of sustainability. It was established by the Office of Residential Life and Housing in 2009, and is officially located on the first and second floors of Chapman Hall. All Adelphi students are welcome to participate in its diverse initiatives.

The Green Community offers students:

  • A bike share program
  • Recycling on each floor, and other sustainable facilities such as automatic hand dryers
  • A refillable drinking water station
  • The Green Council
  • A monthly newsletter
  • Off campus trips and community service
  • An opportunity to develop their own sustainability initiatives

Our hand-prints represent our
"hands-on" approach to going green.

Returning students interested in living in the Green Community can apply for Green Housing in the spring semester. Students will be notified once the application is available, and must also satisfy all of the requirements of the general housing lottery process. New incoming students interested in Green Housing should indicate this preference on their housing application. Placements will be made based on availability.
