Why Give to Adelphi

Adelphi University is committed to providing high quality undergraduate and graduate education for all of our students. Adelphi offers an environment conducive to the best learning situations—individualized academic support, dedicated teaching faculty, personalized attention, financial counseling, and the convenient location, beauty and security of a campus with easy access to the cultural and business capital of the world.

Providing financial assistance for deserving students is at the heart of Adelphi's continuing dedication to its heritage as a leading institution of higher learning. More than 85 percent of undergraduate students receive financial aid from federal, state, endowed and operating fund sources. In 2005-2006, the University awarded more than $22 million in institutional financial assistance from the operating budget.

Tuition alone does not cover the many costs of operating a university. In order to maintain our competitive standing, Adelphi must rely on other sources of funding to meet its priorities:
  • investing in more faculty and academic programs
  • increasing the amount of scholarships
  • building new facilities and upgrading existing facilities for instruction, sports, recreation, and community service
  • growing the endowment for student scholarships and faculty support.

There are many ways that alumni and friends may support Adelphi University. Contributions may be made for specific purposes or may be unrestricted, allowing Adelphi the discretion to apply them to meet immediate needs. Each of these arrangements has its particular advantages, depending on the type of gift, the assets donated, and the donor's stated intent.

Your generous gift today will enhance Adelphi's ability to help educate tomorrow's leaders in science, arts, business, nursing, education, social work, and psychology. We are very grateful for this support, and hope to count on it in the years ahead.
