Horace G. McDonell, Jr. '52, '02 (Hon.), retired chairman and CEO of Perkin Elmer Corporation, will be honored for his Lifetime Service to Adelphi. Mr. McDonell received his B.A. in physics from Adelphi University in 1952. Soon after receiving his B.A., Mr. McDonell joined the Perkin-Elmer Corporation, a leader in the fields of analytical instruments, fine optics, and electro-optical systems, where he served for 38 years, retiring as chairman and CEO. In addition to his service as a member of Adelphi’s Board of Trustees, he served on the boards of other nonprofit organizations including Danbury Hospital, Datahr Rehabilitation Institute, and the American Electronics Association, where he also served as chairman. In recognition of his numerous contributions to the University, the scientific community, and the community at large, Adelphi awarded Mr. McDonell an honorary doctorate in May 2002.
